Jensen Ford shows speed at East Bay Winternationals
Jensen Ford entered the McCarter Brothers Racing No. 83 into Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competition at East Bay Raceway Park for six days of racing.
With $5,000 on the line for Monday's opener, Ford recorded a strong qualifying lap which positioned him to start on the pole of his heat. With a runner-up finish in the heat locking him into the 30-lap A-Main, Jensen ran inside the Top-10 before being collected in a tangle with another competitor. The incident ended Ford's night early and he was scored 25th in the rundown.
For another $5,000 show on Tuesday, the team missed the setup in qualifying before finishing sixth in their heat race, which pushed Ford to a B-Main. With one more shot to make the feature, Jensen pulled off after completing one lap in the B-Main.
On Wednesday, Ford ripped off the fastest qualifying lap out of 65 Late Models before falling back in his heat race to finish fifth. In the B-Main, Jensen was running in the third and final transfer spot when he spun out and was hit by another competitor. Unable to continue, Ford's night came to an early end.
For Thursday's $7,000-to-win event, Jensen qualified 10th-quickest before grabbing the final transfer spot in his heat race. Rolling off from the 14th position in the 40-lap A-Main, Ford battled mid-pack for much of the race and recorded a 12th-place finish at the checkered flag.
Battling for a $12,000 payday on Friday, Ford qualified inside the Top-10 of his group before falling back in his heat race. Being buried in a B-Main, Jensen was a scratch for the remainder of the evening.
An unfavorable forecast for Saturday’s Wieland Winternationals event washed out the LOLMDS speedweek finale.
