Bad luck hampers Mack's trip to East Bay
Thursday night saw Mack McCarter return to action at East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Fla.) for the Crate Racin’ USA Winter Series-sanctioned Winter Nationals. With 78 Late Models on hand for the three-day event, Mack grabbed the second and final transfer spot in his heat behind Kyle Lukon, which positioned him 12th on the starting gird for the opening night feature. Running into trouble early in the 30-lapper, McCarter withdrew from competitor on the seventh lap.
The following night for another $2,500-to-win A-Main, McCarter came two spots short of a transfer position in his heat with a fourth place finish, sending him into the B-Main. Scoring a runner-up finish behind Jake Rainey, Mack locked into the 21st-starting position for the show. Clawing forward one spot in the 30-lap affair, McCarter logged a 20th-place outing. On Saturday evening, Mack edged his way into the $5,000-to-win finale with a third place finish in his heat. With his bad luck continuing for the third-straight night, McCarter was an early retiree from the 50-lapper on lap 4.
Mack is eighth in the lastest Crate' Racin' USA Winter Series point standings.
