Pierce notches podium finish at 411

Friday night found both Mack and Pierce McCarter in action at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.) for the eighth round of the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals. With 34 Late Models entered, Pierce started the night off with a heat race victory while Mack secured his spot into the $10,053-to-win A-Main with a second-place finish in his heat. After fading outside the top-five early, Pierce rebounded in the later stages of the race to reel in a podium finish. He followed Cory Hedgecock and Randy Weaver across the line with Donald McIntosh and Cody Overton rounding out the Top-5. Mack was an early retiree from the 53-lapper on the 12th circuit. 1On Saturday evening at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tenn.) for the Ray Varner Ford 53, Mack got slammed into by another competitor in his heat race that brought a disappointing end to his evening. Pierce followed up the second fastest time in his group with a runner-up finish in his heat. With $10,053 on the line in the feature, Pierce ended upside down on lap 19 after riding the backstretch wall and eventually landing on his roof. He was able to escape unharmed.
