Pierce Crowned Winter Series Champ

Pierce McCarter, in his McCarter Brothers Racing No. 71 Tennessee Homemade Wines/ Parkway Liquor Store/ Longhorn Chassis, clinched the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Winter Series title on Sunday night.

Following a 14th place finish in the series’ $5,000-to-win finale at Cochran Motor Speedway (Cochran, Ga.), McCarter finished four-points ahead of Cruz Skinner in the final standings.

“I’m proud of what our team accomplished,” McCarter said in regards to his Winter Series title. “We raced against some tough fields at those events. In the end, consistency paid off and we put ourselves in a position to clinch the title. It’s a great way to start the season. Thanks to my family, crew, and our great sponsors for all of their support.”

Entering Sunday’s event just two points ahead of Skinner in the standings, the task was simple, McCarter needed to finish ahead of Skinner in the main event to clinch the title.

Drawing 31 cars for the 3rd Annual Cochran Clash, McCarter fell short of securing a spot into the A-Main vis his heat race, sending him into the B-Main. Later coming in second behind Cody Overton, Pierce earned the 20th-starting position on the feature grid. Passing six cars in the 50-lap affair, McCarter recorded a 14th place outing.

Finishing one spot ahead of Skinner in the final rundown on Sunday, Pierce secured the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Winter Series title. In seven starts on the tour, McCarter had one Top-5 and two Top-10 finishes.
